District I - Barangay San Dionisio

History

San Dionisio is one of the earlier barrio in Parañaque. Following the Spanish customs of naming people and places after patron saints, this barrio was named after St. Dionyssius. Saint Dionyssius was a bishop who defied death in order to propagate Christian Faith. In the previous years, the barrio had a large area consisted of ricefields, salt beds and irrigable lands until they have been converted into several subdivisions.
